The cabin has been unoccupied for over 20 years. Ouray County requires the successful bidder to disassemble the cabin shell for transportation and removal, as well as demolition and removal of all remaining building materials and complete site clean-up.
All required State or Local demolition permits are the responsibility of the successful bidder. The property is located in Montrose County; all applicable permits would need to be through Montrose County. The cabin may be viewed by appointment on Monday June 22 nd between 9:00 am and 3:00 pm. Contact Ouray County Facilities Manager Will Clapsadl at wclapsadl@ourayco.gov to schedule an appointment time. Only bids from attendees of this mandatory viewing will be accepted.
All bids must be placed in a sealed envelope labeled Cabin Removal and submitted to Ouray County Administration at the Ouray County Courthouse, 541 Fourth Street, Ouray CO 81427, by Wednesday July 8 th 2026 by 3:00 pm. Bid award will not be solely based on highest bidder, but on best proposal period to expedite and complete the demolition and related material removal.
Ouray County reserves the right to reject any and all bids or to accept any bid that in its judgment best serves the County. The successful bidder shall be required to comply with all Local, State and Federal requirements related to the project.
Scope of work: The complete and total disassembly and removal of log cabin shell and all related building components, contents and materials down to the foundation. The recycling of any building materials possible is highly encouraged. Successful bidder is responsible for all disposal fees, permits and related costs for hauling away cabin shell and all remaining building materials. A base time of demolition must be included with the bid that clearly states time needed to complete the removal.
